A Summer Round Up
A short round-up of what the Association has been doing over the summer months. The work continues and we are grateful to all those who have made donations of goods and funds to help the over this period.
The Woman and Children's Shelter were happy to be receiving yet more toiletries and newly knitted winter wear courtesy of the Benitachell Lady's Club. As usual we have been giving our monthly donation of €250 and also and likewise they have been recieving €250 from the Calpe Benissa Lions. These two donations go towards the daily bills of the woman's shelter and the the Baby and Toddler's Home.
We have to give a very big thanks yet again to Ruby's Golf Society, based at Ruby's Bar, and Theresa their President for all the toiletries they have made, they were very welcome. One of the ladies who has just arrived is expecting twins and will need a lot of baby wear when they arrive.
The Benitachel Charity Shop, Amigos de Benitachell, donated €1,500 to pay towards the Summer Camps for the Altea Home, and €1,000 to pay for needs for the Woman's shelter and their children. In total we will have spent €4,000 on Summer Camps this year.
The photo shows Carole with Veronica the new Director of the Children's Home in Altea. There are 29 children in the Home of all age groups. One of the children has to wear a Calliper that fits into her shoes. The home was not able to afford to buy two pairs of shoes as they are €135 each. So we have bought another pair so that she could swop around. She is a beautiful little girl and was really grateful for the new shoes. We have to thank Pol Yuaguas for giving us a discount on the shoes.
Elsie and David Spence buy fresh food for the Relleu Home each month. Elsie has recently received over €500 from The International Club of Campello. From this €300 went towards her monthly food bill for the Relleu Home and €200 towards our funds for the other Homes. Elsie is also working with the Freemasons of Campello who will be buying something special for the Relleu Home.
